Chargers Sign Dicaprio Bootle and Shaun Wade; Activate Sam Mustipher and Jalen Reagor

The Los Angeles Chargers today signed CB Dicaprio Bootle and CB Shaun Wade to the Active Roster from the practice squad. In a corresponding move, Los Angeles placed DB Deane Leonard on Reserve/Injured. The Bolts also activated C Sam Mustipher and WR Jalen Reagor for Monday's game.

Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Bootle has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers. He has started two-of-16 career games played with the Chiefs and Chargers, posting 19 tackles (16 solo), a pair of pass breakups and six special teams tackles. Bootle saw the most action of his career last season with the Panthers when he appeared in eight games and made two starts, contributing 11 tackles (all solo) and two pass breakups to the Carolina defense.

Bootle played four seasons (2017-20) at Nebraska, seeing action in 44 games. He posted 110 tackles (70 solo), an interception and a pair of forced fumbles for the Cornhuskers, starting the final 32 contests of his career. A team captain his final season in Lincoln, Neb., Bootle was named third-team All-Big Ten in 2018 and was the team's defensive back of the year in 2018 and 2019.

Wade came into the NFL as a fifth-round pick (160th overall) by New England in 2021, appearing in 20 contests for the Patriots over the last three seasons. He saw the most action of his career last year, starting six-of-14 games played, recording 23 tackles (21 solo), a pass breakup and two tackles for loss. Wade played college football at Ohio State, serving as a team captain and earning consensus All-America honors in 2020. That year, he became the program's first player ever recognized as the Tatum-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year. Wade was a two-time All-Big Ten recipient, including as a first-team selection in 2020. Over his three seasons (2018-20) with the Buckeyes, Wade appeared in 35 games and recorded 91 tackles (67 solo), two sacks, six interceptions, 19 passes defensed and a pair of forced fumbles.

Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Mustipher has started 44-of-54 career games with the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, including a postseason start in 2020. He was the Bolts' starting right guard in Week 4 this season after being elevated from the practice squad. Mustipher started all 17 games with the Bears in 2021, while starting 16-of-17 contests with Chicago in 2022. He contributed in nine games for the Ravens last season, making a pair of starts on a line that blocked for quarterback Lamar Jackson to win his second Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award.

Mustipher appeared in 47 games over four seasons (2015-18) at the University of Notre Dame, finishing his career with 36 consecutive starts at center for the Fighting Irish. During his time in South Bend, Ind., he helped Notre Dame appear in three bowl games, serving as a team captain in 2018, when the team finished the year ranked No. 5 in the nation after posting a 12-1 record.

A 2020 first-round selection (21st overall) by Philadelphia, Reagor has started 25-of-56 regular-season games for the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots. He's hauled in 79 passes for 937 yards (11.9 avg.) and four touchdowns, while adding 100 rushing yards on 19 carries (5.3 avg.). In a pair of postseason appearances, Reagor has made a start and hauled in a two-yard reception.

A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Reagor played three years (2017-19) at TCU, ultimately earning second-team All-America recognition as a punt returner in his final season in Fort Worth, Texas. He saw action in 39 career games for the Horned Frogs, posting 148 receptions for 2,248 yards (15.2 avg.) and 22 touchdowns along with 324 rushing yards and a pair of scores on 35 attempts (9.3 avg.). Reagor returned 23 punts for 409 yards (17.8 avg.) and a pair of touchdowns, both of which were recorded in 2019.
