The Los Angeles Chargers today signed center Sam Mustipher to the active roster. The team also signed cornerback Kendall Williamson to the practice squad.
Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Mustipher has started 44-of-55 career games with the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, including a postseason start in 2020. He was the Bolts' starting right guard in Week 4 this season after being elevated from the practice squad. Mustipher started all 17 games with the Bears in 2021, while starting 16-of-17 contests with Chicago in 2022. He contributed in nine games for the Ravens last season, making a pair of starts on a line that blocked for quarterback Lamar Jackson to win his second Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award.
Mustipher appeared in 47 games over four seasons (2015-18) at the University of Notre Dame, finishing his career with 36 consecutive starts at center for the Fighting Irish. During his time in South Bend, Ind., he helped Notre Dame appear in three bowl games, serving as a team captain in 2018, when the team finished the year ranked No. 5 in the nation after posting a 12-1 record.
Williamson originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round selection (258th overall) by the Chicago Bears in the 2023 NFL Draft and has spent time on the Bears and Buffalo Bills practice squads. He appeared in 49 career games with 38 starts in five seasons (2018-22) at Stanford. On The Farm, Williamson earned the Cardinal's 2021 Tommy Cardell Award, given to the junior or senior player who best epitomizes excellence in both academics and athletics. He compiled 203 total tackles (140 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, two forced fumbles, 14 passes defensed and one interception at Stanford.
