The Los Angeles Chargers today signed tackle Alex Leatherwood.

Leatherwood has started 17-of-21 career games played with the Raiders and Bears, while also spending time with the Cleveland Browns. A first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft by Las Vegas, Leatherwood started all 17 regular-season games for the Raiders as a rookie (four at right tackle, 13 at right guard), helping the team to a postseason appearance. He started at right guard for the team's AFC Wild Card matchup against Cincinnati.

In 2020, Leatherwood capped his career at the University of Alabama with unanimous first-team All-American honors, also winning first-team All-Southeastern Conference recognition for the second-straight season. He worked at left tackle as a senior along an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award as the country's best offensive line unit, while also becoming the program's fifth Outland Trophy winner. That season, Leatherwood helped pave the way for one of the top offensive units in the nation, while the line allowed just 11 sacks on the season. Leatherwood will wear No. 67 for the Chargers.
