The Los Angeles Chargers today signed defensive lineman Teair Tart. In a corresponding move, the team waived safety Jalyn Phillips.

A fifth-year player, Tart (first name pronounced TEE-air) has started 36-of-47 career games played with Tennessee and Houston. He signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and saw the most productive season of his career with Tennessee in 2022, when he started 16 games and set single-season career highs in tackles (34), solo tackles (20), sacks (1.5), interceptions (one), passes defensed (six) and fumble recoveries (one). Tart, who most recently spent this past offseason with the Miami Dolphins, finished his collegiate career at Florida International. In his two seasons (2018-19) with the Panthers, Tart totaled 5.5 sacks, 50 tackles (28 solo) and a pair of forced fumbles in 23 games played. Tart will wear No. 90 for the Chargers.
