Los Angeles Chargers Place DJ Chark Jr. on Injured Reserve; Sign Eric Tomlinson to Active Roster

The Los Angeles Chargers today placed wide receiver DJ Chark Jr., on Reserve/Injured. In a corresponding move, the team signed tight end Eric Tomlinson to the active roster. The Bolts also elevated linebacker Shaquille Quarterman from the practice squad for Sunday's game.

Tomlinson came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2015 and has started 54-of-87 career games (including postseason) with the Jets, Giants, Patriots, Raiders, Ravens and Broncos. He has registered 280 yards and three touchdowns on 27 career receptions (10.4 avg.). Over four seasons (2011-14) at UTEP, Tomlinson hauled in 59 passes for 547 yards (9.3 avg.) and four touchdowns for the Miners, earning honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition three times.

A 2020 fourth-round selection by Jacksonville, Quarterman appeared in 65 total games (63 regular season, two postseason) with the Jaguars over four seasons (2020-23). Over his career, Quarterman has totaled 29 tackles (16 solo), a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and 25 special teams tackles in the regular season, while also adding a defensive stop in the playoffs. He played collegiately for four seasons (2016-19) at Miami, appearing in 52 games for the Hurricanes and posting 292 tackles (182 solo), 13.0 sacks, an interception, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and five recoveries. Quarterman was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2018 and a second-team choice in 2017. The Orange Park, Fla., native will wear No. 58 for the Chargers.
