The Los Angeles Chargers today signed defensive back Elijah Molden to a multi-year contract extension.

Molden was a key piece of the Chargers secondary in 2024, starting 12-of-15 games with the Bolts after being acquired via trade in August, contributing to a unit that paced the NFL in scoring defense by allowing just 17.7 points per game. His versatility was on display, as Molden played all over the defensive backfield and registered career-highs with 72 tackles, three interceptions, seven pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.

Originally a third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2021 NFL Draft (100th overall), Molden has started 28-of-48 career games played over his four pro seasons with the Titans and Chargers. In the regular season, he has registered 209 tackles (132 solo), 15 passes defensed, seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, four recoveries and five interceptions, including a pair returned for touchdowns.

At the University of Washington, Molden was a back-to-back first-team All-Pacific-12 recipient as a junior and senior, appearing in 44 games over four seasons (2017-20). He was honored by Pro Football Focus as Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2020 and was a two-time second-team All-American from Pro Football Focus (2019-20). With the Huskies, Molden posted 153 tackles (100 solo), five interceptions, 20 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and a pair of recoveries.

Molden's father, Alex, played eight NFL seasons after being the No. 11 overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, including two years (2001-02) with the Bolts. Over his Chargers tenure, Alex Molden started 19-of-22 games played and recorded four interceptions, two sacks, 98 tackles (86 solo), two forced fumbles and two recoveries.

The Los Angeles Chargers signed defensive back Elijah Molden to a multi-year contract extension. Molden has recorded 215 career tackles and 5 interceptions. In the 2024 season, he played in 15 games.
