Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Tarheeb Still was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week by the league office. Still is the first Chargers rookie to win the award since 2007, with the honor marking the first Defensive Player of the Week recognition of his career.
Still turned in a breakout performance in Los Angeles' 17-13 road victory over Atlanta, leading all NFL players in Week 13 with two interceptions, including one that he returned 61 yards for a touchdown. He broke up a third pass late in the fourth quarter on third-and-12, forcing a long fourth-down attempt that resulted in a game-sealing interception by the defense.
A fifth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, Still is just the second Day 3 draft pick to record multiple interceptions and a pick six in the same game as a rookie in over 15 seasons. On the season, he's started seven-of-nine games played, posting a team-high three interceptions, eight pass breakups and a half-sack, contributing to a Chargers unit that leads the NFL in scoring defense by allowing just 15.7 points per game. Still is one of just two NFL rookies this season to have a sack and multiple interceptions.
Still is the ninth Chargers defensive back and is the 26th different Bolts defender to win the award.
